The NBA lockout was a sham, but that’s not to say nothing good came out of it. On the contrary, during those miserable months an assortment of video footage came to light that was just pure gold.
Here’s my top five videos of the lockout period.

Five reasons to be thankful for the NBA lockout
Catching up on the Votes – Day 31-33
Day 31 – ReDirkulous
3 votes – Dirk Nowitzki. I didn’t see this game until three days later. Usually during the playoffs I won’t go and watch games that are 3-days old because there’s so much new action every day – what happened 3 days ago is old news. But I just had to watch this [...]
Day 29 – Beginnings and Ends
3 votes – Kevin Durant. Amazing to think that KD and Russell might have saved their best combined game of this series till last. Durant dropped a casual 39 on 13-25 shooting to go with 9 rebounds – simply one of the best Game 7 close-out games in recent years. I thought the Grizzlies had [...]
JT’s Playoff Odyssey
What’s it like to be an NBA sportswriter? Well, courtesy of NBAMate I had the chance to find out, by attending two games in Chicago and New York during the first round of the playoffs. As experiences go it was off the charts, a dream come true for a life long hoops fan. ‘Surreal’ is [...]
Day 12 – Kevin Durant. Nothing Else To See Here.
For the most part, day 12 went as predicted. Miami snuffed out the Sixers resistance with a comfortable (if not totally convincing) 97-91 victory to take the series 4-1. Oklahoma City also wrapped up their series 4-1 with a 100-97 win over Denver, while the Spurs forced their series to a Game 6 back in [...]
Day 2 – Better than Day 1

If yesterday was the perfect start to the playoffs, today was the perfect sequel. The bar raised again. Four close games, two massive upsets, some unbelievable individual performances, and plenty of clutch heroics. In other words, NBA basketball heaven.
3 votes – Chris Paul. After CP3 dismantled the Lakers, [...]
10 Things We Learned In January
It’s that time of the month folks, when I chime in with 10 observations from the previous month’s NBA action. Let’s get straight into it.
1. KG – Mr Cheap Shot
I am a Celtics guy so I don’t dislike Kevin Garnett. In fact, I love what he brings to the floor. But I can’t [...]
Most Valuable Protagonist
As the NBA season begins its second half, shit tends to get just a little bit tedious for everyone involved. Fans have more or less figured out which teams are good, bad or plain mediocre. The players on the good teams are just trying to get to the All-Star break uninjured; the players on the [...]
Round Ball Fever: The All-NBA FIFA Team
Taking a break from the madness of the NBA Finals, the 2010 FIFA World Cup starts this weekend which should provide a brief, pleasurable diversion from footy-mad Melbourne. Maybe not for us hardened NBA fans who have enjoyed the excitement of the Celtics/Lakers confrontation unfold. But if you’re a diehard sports fan, then the next [...]
Day 6 – Rose and Durant overshadow Kobe and The King

3 votes – Derrick Rose: Excellent game by Rose, notching up 31 points and 7 assists without a single turnover. He managed to stay both aggressive and under control throughout the game, which is never easy for young point guard to do. His fourth quarter was particularly impressive; after [...]
