Here at NBAMate we admit we’re as guilty as anyone when it comes to outpourings of excessive adulation towards our big Aussie hero, Andrew Bogut. But it’s nice to know you don’t need to be wearing Aussie-tinted glasses just to realise the importance of Bogut to his team, and heap on a little well-deserved praise in the process.

I am specifically talking about this very excellent post over at Brew Hoop, full of good insights, interesting stats,  and the obligatory Australian pun (executed reasonably well I might add). Here’s an excerpt:

Bogut is a versatile player on both ends, but there’s no denying that most of his value currently lies on the defensive end of the court. When you draft a 7-foot center from a (soon-to-be-ex) mid-major, you’re just hoping he becomes as proficient a defender as Bogut. He’s a strong guy who holds opponents off the block and can handle a wide variety of post moves.
