Leon - Blame tightarse Robert Sarver. Dragic is good, but he's not Rondo.

Dylan - The system does play a part - part of the reason I ranked Nash as the 4th best is because the Phoenix system is ideal for his game.

Just imagine what the possibilities would have been for the Suns if they didn't trade away Rondo.

A big part of the problem in ranking the point guards is that each fits their offense well. Rondo could never run the pick and roll like Nash/Williams/Paul because he has no jump shot. Deron isn't a good enough passer to run Phoenix's offense as well as Nash, but Nash would make Utah worse because he cannot be relied upon to score as much as Deron can. I would rank them: Paul, Nash, Williams, Rondo if we're going by pure point guard ability.

Hey guys, thanks for the comments.

Miki - Not necessarily. I like Rondo, no question, but out of the top three he's the only one with a glaring flaw (shooting, free throw shooting) which can really bite his team on the arse. Although his mid range jumper seems to be improving, so in a couple of years that might be a better question to ask again.

Spencer - Yeah, D-Will and Rondo (at least in my not so humble opinion) are the two best defensive point guards in the league right now by some margin.
Although if I said that last statement to my uncle next time he comes back to Sydney, he probably knocks me on my arse.

Cliff - Exactly. My suspicion is that he wouldn't handle it as well as they do, although he would do pretty good. It's gonna be interesting to see how he goes once the Big Three leave. Although, to be fair, Deron has Boozer and Okur on his team to take some of the heat off.

Nice article. I think I'd go with Deron, but then every time I see Paul play I'm blown away by his game.

The jury is still out for me on Rhondo a little. It's nice having Ray on one wing, Pierce on the other, and Garnett inside. Those guys draw a ton of defensive heat - the kind of heat teams focus almost entirely on CP3 and DWill. It would be interesting to see how Rhondo would handle that, especially with his f/t issues.

Great article. Very neutral here. I always thought cp3 was the best until this year when I saw D-will shut down Brandon Roy in the fourth qaurter. It was one of the best defensive efforts I have ever seen. Your uncle has issues, if d-will played with the big 3 we would be looking at a sweep.

Would agree with everything you've written, except that if Boston wins the title and Rondo has a big game 6/7, he could very well be the Finals MVP. Surely this makes him the best PG in the game at the moment?

I would be very curious to ask Celtics fans though... would you take Paul for Rondo? Something tells me right now that their love for Rondo is too strong :)
