Pau is good no doubts there and is the best big man by default. the lack of quality centres these days is terrible. The 90s you had ewing, olajuwon, o'neal, robinson, daugherty just to name a few. The old fashioned toughness is long gone. especially with the refs calling those ridiculous fouls(basketball will not take off in australia again with those sort of unausttralian like calls, just like soccer and diving).

I think rasheed wallace has to play more minutes, maybe with garnett to cover for the lakers twin towers. perkins and davis are just too undersized.

i'd love the celtics to win, just for a kick in kobe and phils teeth, but it doesn't look that way.

There is only one thing that Dwight has to do that would turn him into the most unstoppable offensive force in the NBA, and therefore cement his #1 spot:

Free Throws.

Howard has it over Pau in athleticism & strength. Pau has it over Dwight in IQ, range, post play, footwork, passing, free throws. Until Dwight can get some kind of jump shot going, I don't even think it's close. But that's just my personal opinion, lol. I love watching Gasol play. His game is sublime. Some of those drop offs to Bynum in heavy traffic are a thing of beauty.

The Celts toughness was conspicuously absent. It was entertaining watching Sheed try to make up for it all on his own there in the 4th though.

I know it plays into the Celt's hands (and I'm a Lakers fan), but God I hope the refs don't call it as tight in game 2. That was pretty fucking disgraceful.

Gasol is a polarizing player amongst my friends. I love his inside game. Great hook shot, professional player that gets it done with little bravado. He's just so damn ugly to look at. Both in facial hair and style of play. But he's euro. That flop he tried to pull on KG confirmed his euro-ness. Still, he's an all star and has been quietly getting it done and you've got to respect that. Best big man in the game? I think Bogut might have something to say about that!

Kobe is a machine. His non-reaction to Chris Rock on the sideline and his comments after the game are exactly the reason Lebron can't make it this far. To Kobe, winning is the only thing he's focused on. It takes 100% of an all star to win a championship. When that all star gets his knee drained and somehow gives 120%, it makes for fantastic basketball.
