This is bad news for Patty and Aussie NBA fans alike. On his very first day of practice for the summer league, Patty fractured the fifth metatarsal in his right foot and will have surgery on Monday.
Summer league was the big chance Mills had of convincing the Blazers he belongs in their rotation. Now it’s likely he won’t even be back in time for the pre-season comp.
I’ll keep this post updated as more news comes to light. For now, we just wish Patty all the best in his recovery. We want to see you on the court in that Blazers uniform as soon as possible!
UPDATE (16/7): Looks like Patty will be out for 4-6 months. This sucks.

Terrible news. Let’s hope he can get back as soon as possible and not get buried at the end of the bench, or worse, get sent to D-League or Europe.
That’s really shit. Career ending stuff when you are fighting to get noticed enough for a rotation spot. Also a foot is a bad injury when your game relies on speed.
forget playing time, he is not even guaranteed a contract to start with!
I knew that Alpha Mag interview with him on the eve of the draft was getting ahead of themselves, asking about things like ‘how are you gonna spend all the millions? (expected of NBA stars)’
How quickly things can go sour. Such a shame, I wish Patty the best of luck!
his career is over now. hes better of ritiring. nowone will want him now
Shut up Adam. Going to Europe isn’t necessarily the worst thing for him at this stage. From there he will be able to play good minutes, work on his passing game and hopefully get noticed. Better then getting bum minutes off the bench for Portland and getting sent to the D-League every other week. Obviously another year at St Mary’s would have been the best thing for his career.
