I didn't see that many open looks for Kobe, but I did see plenty for his team mates who mostly missed them.

you speak the truth rob when you say "not enough teams have been burned by Carmelo Anthony". that could all change in the next round or two.

Kobe might not get open shots from dribble penetrations, but I have noticed in the Houston series (or at least the few games ESPN/One HD give us) that Kobe has actually got quite a few open looks due to Battier/Artest doubling down on Pau in the post on a smaller defender, especially now that there is no Yao. Probably not as many as Melo is getting I guess, don't really get enough Nuggets games in the last couple of years to be able to judge that.

^^fair point, but he's not the type of player that necessarily needs to have the ball in his hands a lot, like Lebron and Wade. He's more of a traditional forward, needs more looks in the post, whereas Lebron and Wade need the ball earlier in the offense.

but I agree. Chauncey has really rubbed off well against Melo. It's the perfect mentor he needed at this point of his career.

Nuggets are without doubt the best team to watch and also the BEST TEAM PERIOD right now.

The main reason why Carmelo has never consistently had to impose himself on the offence is that ever since he's been in the NBA he's never been the primary ball-handler on that team like Lebron and Wade are.

He's had to live off what Dre, Iverson and now Chauncey have fed him a lot of the time and it has been IMO to his detriment in how fast he's been able to improve his game, as he's never had the same type of responsibility trusted upon him to be the go to guy.

I think Chauncey has changed this a lot this year and made Melo accountable for the team's performances and made him realise that he is the guy on that team. Also being the butt of a lot of jokes when he was on the USA team must've lit a fire under him too (other guys he came into the league with were ribbing him about the Camby trade and Denver in the lottery etc).

So delighted with the improvement in attitude and intensity we've seen from him and JR this year and I hope it continues because the Nuggz are such an exhilarating team to watch these days.
