I’m very excited to announce that NBAMate is running a competition to give away a Derrick Rose Rookie of the Year t-shirt, as well as a Dwight Howard Defensive Player of the year t-shirt. These shirts are both valued at $20 (I know, we have a big budget here!) and commemorate the awards won by two of the youngest stars in the league. They were only released a few days ago to stores, and Aussies, I’m not even sure these will reach the land Downunder so don’t miss out! See the pictures below and click for a larger image.

To win one (or both) of these prizes, all you have to do is:

For the Derrick Rose shirt:
1) Predict how many points, rebounds and assists Rose will have in Game 6 (which is in Chicago on Thursday)
2) Predict the winning team and the final margin
3) Email your predictions to prizes@nbamate.com, along with your name
4) The winner will be decided by adding up the difference between your prediction and Rose’s actual numbers, for each of the statistical categories. The winning team and final margin will only be used as a tie-breaker in the event there is a draw in the above scenario.

For the Dwight Howard shirt:
1) Predict how many points, rebounds and blocks Howard will have in Game 6 (which is in Philadelphia on Thursday)
2) Predict the winning team and the final margin
3) Email your predictions to prizes@nbamate.com, along with your name
4) The winner will be decided by adding up the difference between your prediction and Howard’s actual numbers, for each of the statistical categories. The winning team and final margin will only be used as a tie-breaker in the event there is a draw in the above scenario.

UPDATE: DWIGHT HOWARD SUSPENDED. Looks like Dwight was suspended for throwing that elbow and will miss Game 6. We have thus changed the competition to Game 2 of the second round against Boston (Seriously, what are the odds I run a competition like this and Dwight gets suspended for the game? 1 in 100? 1 in 1000?)

For example:
Your prediction for Rose is: 24pts-13assists-6rebounds
His actual numbers in game 6 are: 28-10-3
The differences for each stat are then: 4-3-3 giving you a total difference of 10
If 10 is the lowest number, you win. If it’s a tie, we look at the predicted winning team and margin
If you have the closest predicted team/margin, we send you the shirt in the mail (USA/Canada/Australia only)

Please submit your responses to prizes@nbamate.com before 4pm Eastern on Thursday 30th April (for Australians that will be 6am East Coast time on Friday 1st May). The winners will be announced the following day.

Best of luck and may the best prediction win!

Other conditions and small print
- You can participate in both competitions, for both shirts
- The size of both shirts is ‘Large’
- Both shirts are brand new and will be delivered with tags still attached
- We will only ship to the USA, Canada or Australia
- In the event that Howard/Rose do not play in Game 6, the competition for that shirt is void
- In the event of a tie, the predicted winning margin will count even if the predicted winning team is incorrect. For example if both tied players predicted the Bulls by 20 and 10 points respectively but the Celtics won, the person who predicted a Bulls 10 point win would win the prize as they were technically closest to the final result
- In the event that there is a tie in both the predicted stats and winning result, we will do a count-back based on the statistical differences, placing more weighting on points, then rebounds, then assists/blocks.
