i think rip is just going through an adjustment phase. lets face it, iverson is going to eat up a lot of his points, and it seems Prince is being way more aggressive this season so it means less production for Rip. problem is Rip has always been a 1-dimensional player (sorry rob but he is) so i don't know if he's got much to fall back on.

It doesn't take a "genius", but like I've said plenty of times, Rip is only effective as he has been because Billups throws perfect passes. It's not just that, it's the anticipation, which takes a few years to develop. No chance Iverson steps in and does what Chauncey did, not now, not even in a year.

For pretty much six years Chauncey and Rip were heralded as the best backcourt in the league. Let's not forget that.

i don't get why you guys think it takes a genius to throw the ball to rip hamilton running around a screen. billups just happened to do it for six years so he was eventually doing it in his sleep. the fact the pistons only won 1 title in that time maybe means they should go away from Rip and let a guy like AI shoot a little more. you seen any Detroit highlights recently? AI is driving to the lane hard and scoring in bunches. don't remember chauncey or rip scoring like that anymore.

Well he did jsut that today, and the pistons got up. Still a bad sign that they are struggling against the Sac tho.
But iverson scoring 30 doesn't do the "he knows his role has changed and is not to jack up so many shots" argument any help.

I think Hamilton's 0-8 scoreline against Boston says it all, he's used to receiveing a great open pass from Billups. That just doesn't happen under Iverson.

That is a pointless stat! it doesn't matter what AI did in Philly or even Denver. his role has changed, and he realizes that. it's not like he has to give up scoring completely. Billups was a 15-20ppg scorer so he does have to fill that void. the way the Pistons have been playing lately though maybe AI needs to jack up a lot more shots..

Last season AI jacked up 1,556 shots, which is only a couple of hundred off his peak years of 1999 - 2003 seasons. that's only 2 less shots a game than in his ball-hogging days.

Do you actually think that someone who demands the ball as much as AI does can change?

dude AI is well past his days of jacking up 60 shots. if you heard his recent comments you get the idea that he will sacrifice whatever he needs to for the team.

i saw the last couple of Detroit games. Stuckey is a flat out stud. right now he's quicker and stronger than AI. he will learn a lot from Iverson.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Without Billups at the top, the whole offensive system may suffer. we'll see if AI decides to jack up 60 shots a game instead...

also "AI’s game resembles Stuckey’s". no Rob, as much as you get down on your knees for Stuckey, until he surpasses the 3rd greatest scorer of all time, you can't say AI's game resembels Stuckeys, it will always be "Stuckey's game resembles AI's."

Bring on the Rod Suck era.
